CBC Data Backup

How critical is your data?

Would your bank survive if it lost all of its client, inventory, or accounting information? What are you doing to protect it against viruses, electronic corruption, or fire?

  • Backup strategy is reviewed and updated so that it is practical, effective, and secure.
  • Backup will employ latest technology like CDP and imaging.
  • Backup logs are reviewed regularly to ensure that all data is accurately stored.
  • System images are periodically archived to speed up emergency recovery.

What is CDP (Continuous Data Protection) and why does your bank need it?

CDP (continuous data protection) is aptly named. At a base level it is a combination of hardware and software that automatically saves copies of every change that is made to your bank's data. It saves every version so that in the event of a disaster your IT personnel can restore the data to any point in time.

Another great quality for community banks is that if you have a CDP at your main office and one at a branch, the CDPs can be configured to backup to each other. This automates your process of taking data off site for disaster recovery. Have multiple CDPs that back up to each other creates a circular backup system that eliminates all the overhead and security flaws of backup tapes.

CDP BENEFITS

  • CDP eliminates the need to rotate backup tapes.
  • CDP is more reliable than backup tapes.
  • CDP requires less maintenance than backup tapes.
  • CDP can backup remotely to other CDPs, no more transporting of tapes.
  • CDP can recover your bank's data to any point in time.
  • CDP stores many different types of data.
  • CDP is easier to say than backup tape.

Why does CBC use imaging software to recover data and servers for community banks?

  • Restoring data from an image is the quickest way to recover the data.
  • A server can be completely restored from an image rather than rebuilding the server piece by piece.
